    TBEC 12hr Hare and Hounds

(Don't know if this goes here or in the "Other Traillies" section, please feel free to move as required)

Whaddon 12 Hour Hare and Hounds.

Had to done, and on the little bike.

Its probably just because I’m soft, but I now hurt in places I didn’t know I had places!
It was a really good day out, the course quite open with only a couple of slow sections. That however means it’s fast, and I’m not fast! I like it sticky and tight, where everyone has to slow down a bit!

    Some purely "me" pics:

Was a really friendly event, run by TBEC, http://www.tbec.co.uk , with excellent assistance from the marshals when required.

Results should be out in a couple of days, this time I really expect to not do very well. It is about more than that though, there are not many other occasions where you can ride for 12 hours, taking the minimum of breaks you can, without hitting tarmac, or having to slow down/stop for horses etc. Even with a 5 ½ mile lap, 10 laps is 55 miles, of mostly harder going than I’ve met on most byways, I’ll be happy with anything over 15 laps (just over 80 miles) Think my fastest will be about 22mins, and about 1hr lost to recovery, filling water bladders etc. I got into these things as practice for the rallies! Must be mad.

    Results!

I'm not going to make SP this weekend Xan, big party in Shefield. TA is back on the road, issues with foot brake pedal sticking to bent exhaust cover and 'bars feeling out of true, but at least its back! (Playtime is possible over the next 2 weekends though.)

They got their results out quick! Not that I've been waiting, checking back etc

I'm v. v. happy - not last!! 54 out of 63 teams entered, 5 out of 8 solos, 30 laps of 5 1/2 miles each. Seem to have used about 1hour 20 mins in rest time, thats a possible 3 or 4 laps, so can aim for that next time. (Although that would only put me up to 50 or 4!!)
Recon I just need a bigger camelback, used 6 litres during the day, but ran the last few laps without any.
Laps of around 22 mins, fastest at just under 18mins. Must thank a chap on an XR250, following him picked my pace up for 3 laps.

    Re: Results!

Congratulations ! I am very impressed with being about to do that.. I would love to be able to do it.. oh well maybe next year..

As for the camel pack you can get ones that sit low, so if you are going for big water (which is very important to keep hydrated), look for a low one.. (but i dont know where to find one)
