As promised, here is a sequel to my previous post on the Erzberg expedition.
A few random pics... here we go!
We leave on wednesday morning early, our "racing twins" are eager to reach Eisenerz in Austria.
The first sight we get of the Iron Mountain... we are so thrilled!
The Italian convoy finally reaches the racing venue.
The same evening we meet Marc Coma, Dakar winner 2006 (we also get to meet Cyril Despres, Dakar winner 2007 and the great David Knight, current world enduro champion) - all great guys!
Ready to race the Konigsklasse on thursday afternoon, the Africa Twins are lined up waiting for their riders.
Waiting for the start...
... I try to look relaxed (yeah, sure!).
Giovanni Sala, 5 times world enduro champion and 19 (!) times Italian national champion, goes off first.
Roberto Boano with his beautiful bike is ready to go!
Stephan starts his race (he's the owner of African Queens).
I cross the finish line...
Group photo of our team after race two: the mountain has been conquered!
We end up in the main tent where we meet Giovanni Sala; he stays with us to chat and drink beer for two hours... amazing guy, a champion both on and off his motorcycle.
Guess who this guy is...
Our camp...
The entire camp from above... 1380 racers plus friends, girlfriends etc.
Wake up call to race every morning from this vehicle.
