    Haggis Run 2

Actually managed to meet up with the crew as they headed for Skye today. Weather was mainly dry, which apparently is not what they've experienced as they have ridden north.

Here are a few photos from this afternoons trip from Glencoe to The ferry to Skye.

The XRV crew go Commando at the Commando Monument near Spean Bridge.

Chad gets his first chance to practice his Haggis call in the Highland Glens - it didn't work - he was still Haggis-less when I left them.

The Mountie gets bored waiting for the crew to arrive from Glencoe and starts fondling his passenger!!!

    Guess where we stopped?

I rode as far as the ferry to Skye with the group, then waved them all fairwell before they floated onto Skye.
I'm positive the Haggis Run 2 riders will litter this post with more & better photos when they return to civilisation.

Great to meet up with you guys & gals.
Stay safe and where possible, dry.

    TTFN,

    Steve T

This may make the thread look like it's going in reverse !! but here are a couple of shots of the haggis bashers from their trip up to Glen Coe on Saturday 7th.

Wee Jack , Brianmcc, and Wee R1 Fred(not of this place) met them just north of Dumfries and escorted them up. Brian went all the way to Glen Coe (and on to Skye on Sunday , I think) but Fred and myself had to cut and run at Inveraray. It was great to meet the team and put some names to faces. Wishing them all the best for the rest of the trip, they are certainly not letting the iffy weather dampen their spirits.

The group waiting for the ferry at Gourock
From the left ..... Chad , Geoff the Lurker , DaveS, Brianmcc, Piguglyshandydrinker, McVicar, Lady Vader , Lord Vader, IanS, Mrs McVicar and Wee R1 Fred - hatching a plan in the background.

The bikes parked up among the trees on Loch Eck side

Wee Jack not being in the least intimidated by Chad (he's a big softie really !!)

    Re: Haggis Run 2

I met up with the xrv haggis Run in a very wet Pooley Bridge, early evening on Friday, needless to say they had already found the local, beer was consumed, while watching the local street entertainment

I shall say no more, as others have photographic evidence.....

I set off to pitch the tent, meeting Geoff Francis who was already pitched and warming up with a cuppa after an eventful run up from the south.

When all returned from the pub more beer was consumed and friendly banter followed.

Here's DaveS packing up on Saturday morning at Ullswater, Ian has just arrived

From there we headed through sunshine & showers through Dumfries towards Ayr, where we met up with wee Jack, Briansmcc & wee R1 rider.

Here, on the ferry from Gourock to Dunoon.

We took a change of route and jack led the way past Loch Eck and what a road, what scenery

A traditional wooden bridge somewhere between Loch Eck & Loch Fyne

We stopped for a cuppa at a blue oyster bar where the mutha of all rainstorms let rip....

Wee Jack had to head his own direction, at this point, thanks for the tour Jack, good to see you again

Next, up to the beautiful Glencoe, where we came across these beautiful creatures in their natural surroundings (the tourist busses behind & out of sight!!!).

    Lord & Lady Vader

After pitching at the Red Squirrel campsite at glencoe, we checked out the local, where Haggis was consumed (Ian & I ordered Veggie ) and a band played the night away.

I had to tolerate gestures like that all night from 'herr flick'

Sunday morning, packed and ready to go, well I was heading south while every one had Skye as the destination.

I travelled down the Argyll coast towards Oban

Took some (very) little tracks across to Loch Awe from Kilmelford and down to Lochgilphead

Now heading down towards the Mull of Kintyre and Tarbet for a ferry crossing to Portavadie.
Heres a veiw of the Mull of Kintyre

Another ferry from Dunoon and a nice chat to a local Bandit rider and motorways home

It was, as always, good to meet up with you all and also, put a couple more faces to names.

Hope that you all had a fab time on Skye and a safe trip home.

    Phil

ps, I hope that the ladies of the group enjoyed it all too, we are aware that it can be daunting with a big group of blokes taklking cr*p about exhausts, tyres etc all weekend.
Lady vader soon had the conversation diverted into the practicalities of Stainless Steel kitchen tables, whipped crean & chocolate. And we thought everyone was asleep
(sorry you had to be there!!!)

    Re: Haggis Run 2

    I'm back!
Chad and I travelled back yesterday, 620 miles for me in 12 hours with quite a few stops.
We didn't necessarily intend to do the whole lot, but we found that as we got closer you just wanted to push on and get home.
I found the last 2 hours quite difficult... especially as my mp3 player battery gave up the ghost and I couldn't be bothered to change it.
Anyway got back at about 11:30 pm.
I'm sorting out the pictures now and will post them up. I've also created a special Haggis 2007 album for them all to go in.

And I wanted to say a very big thank you to everyone involved.
There really is too many people to mention but I'm really really touched by the wonderful reception we had from the natives who came out of their way to be with us and join us on parts of the trip.
I've not laughed so much in a very very long time, and not drunk so much either!

I've really enjoyed reading these reports and looking at the pictures - looks like a fab trip... 620 miles home in one day yikes! I find 250 miles a fair challenge over the last half-hour or so
RD07a, reg in 2001, Black, heated grips, short screen, Scottoiler, Givi top box and panniers, DataTag, full Riky Cross crash bars, Baglux tank cover, Facet pump, mostly 200 miles to reserve and presently a lot happier since being loved up at Chad's hospital for sick ATs!

    Re: Haggis Run 2

    Hi all
I haven't done this before and I wasn't sure what to expect when I said I would meet you all when you came to Skye, bit nervous realy.

I realy didn,t need to worry. A friendlier bunch I could not have asked for.

Exept Chad, who was constantly trying to put me in hospital with a hernia from laughing.

I have to say I enjoyed it so much, thanks to you all.
You lot going on about the scenery and the roads have rekindled my enthusiasm. You take it for granted with time.

Have to appolagise for bugging out early from campsite without saying goodbye but I was packed up early, engine running and ready to go, the momentum was too much to resist.

It was good to put faces and personalities to some of the people I have been talking to on the forum.
Lord (I don't do quiet) Vader.
McVicar, the sensible one, who told me to chill out on the forum.
IanS, when faced with and explosion of a petrol stove would say "There's a knack to lighting them you know"
Chad, if there was a funny side to see, Chad would, nothing off limits, nothing.
    DaveS, the head of ops.
Not forgetting the girls of course, and everyone else.

The memories of the laughs will make me smile for a long time to come.

Can we do it again ?
