    Morocco with Moto Morocco

    Hi
Just got back from 3 weeks in Morocco.Went with a fully supported tour.Done over 3700miles in total...some of that hard core off roading....lots of offs and lots of bruising all round. As a complete novice it was very challenging and very demanding but so rewarding

be interested to know roughly what they was charging and what was in the package, plus any good or bad points, what could be changed etc as this will helpfully in reducing any hiccups for us next year.

ps... please tell me thats not the service truck in pic 2!!!

    Re: Morocco with Moto Morocco

Hi Jenna.....Sohoeasy has posted a link to their site......It cost me 950 pounds plus petrol and food apart from brekkie...i thought it was good value.I was very pleased with most things on the tour.....most hotels were excellent. There were 7 bikes and 1 pillion in the group not including Bill riding his gsa 1150 as lead.On some of the rougher pistes the pillion travelled in the Landy.
I had the only Africa Twin amongst 3 bmw gsa 1200s,1 bmw 1100(their hire bike)A V strom, which went quite well with its jacked up suspension and stronger bash plate, and a single cylinder yamaha tt600 which was best on the sand due to its lighter weight. At the end of the tour most considered the Africa Twin to be the best bike overall for the tour as it handle well over all the terrain covered which included some great peg down twisties, dry river beds,a couple of river crossings, high mountain passes, hamada(the real desert)switch backs on rock strewn donkey tracks and whatever else Morocco had to throw at us.Its also very usful not having a cat. as the big beemers do because they could only use unleaded and on at least one occasion there were a few worried looks as i fuelled with whatever i could get while the bmws had to wait until we reached an unleaded service station. The Landy always carried extra fuel so there never was any real panic concerning fuel for the "darksiders".Saying that though the Landy only ever came off piste once with the bike for the duration as most of the off roading was too hard core for the Landy to keep up.
I went out a complete novice and came back very confident in myself and the bike....the a.t really impressed me and, although it was very hard work..made worse by the temp. in the mid 40s for the first week...the challenge was worth the effort as now i know what i can do aswell as the bike.
Support and back up were very good...the land rover carried all the kit and was generally waiting at the hotel at the end of the day for us....on a couple of occasions we arrived before him as he had either been given the wrong directions or had taken a wrong turning.
Most of the time things ran very smoothly.....but on this type of adventure...which is what it is....you should always be prepared for the unexpected...and bring your sense of humour too.
(and NO!...thats not the back up vehecile in pic 2.......its here in the final pic...proudly and professionally manipulated by Mike.
I've only been back a couple of days(the trip was part of a longer trip for me....i spent 1 week after the tour finished travelling up the west coast alone)and i'm gagging to go back......i am confident enough to go alone now although i wouldn't hesitate using Moto Morocco again. They are a great outfit.
It was alot tougher than i ever imagined it to be but as i said...well worth it.
Morocco is an amazing country and you will get to see alot of it from the saddle(when you are not concentrating on the rough stuff)and you will have time to sight see during the odd days rest.

    Hi Spain,

Sounds like you had a great time, I don't suppose you have any GPS tracks you'd be willing to share? I'm planning for a trip next year.

    Hi
I didn't use a gps although a couple of the other lads used them.I will contact them and get some tracks for you at a later date.
Where are you planning to go?All over or just one area?

We've not really started in-depth planning yet, but mainly into the Atlas Mountains, as far away from people as we can

Nothing primitive there Spain! Good pics (more, more, more!!) and good report
I envy and admire what you've done there

    Re: Morocco with Moto Morocco

thanks for the info, its nice to see that people are willing to give this type of trip a go even if they haven't done it before, from the website they concentrate on quite small groups and tend to use hotels at a lot more that i expected but then its probably a good idea, especially if your new to it all.

    glad you enjoyed it...
