Northwest ride out Sunday Nov 4

Had a fun ride out with hudders today, checked out Salter Fell + then across Stalling Busk. We met up near Preston, then on to Ribchester, Whitewell, Dunsop Bridge, Slaidburn. About 1.5 miles out of Slaidburn we arrive at the start of the first trail.

Looking into distance you can just see the track running right handed up the hill, to the right of the old quarry. ( click on picture to enlarge slightly then click on the icon bottom right for full size picture to see track clearly).

    Hudders @ + Airwolfs TA

Hudders looses traction coming up the hill.

Hudders could'nt wait to try out his new crash bars.

"Don't worry hudders I'm coming"......................( to get a better shot )

Nearly broke my neck running down that hill.

Hudders had the last laugh though. After we got the bike up (with only a small scratch on his new crash bars) I gave him a push to get him moving , then the ungrateful b*****d showered me with rocks as he left me to trudge back up the hill.

Will post rest of report tomorrow, off to bed now I'm knackered.

    Salter Fell continued.

    Top of the moor.

Looking into distance you can just see the track going over the small hill in the centre of shot.

Other side of the hill. Almost at the end of 8 or 9 miles off road.

head down through Hornby and up to Kirby Lonsdale for a quick coffee at Devils Bridge, then its Barbon to Dent ( whoopieeeee cant keep the wheels on the floor) then Garsdale Station to Hawes for an 'all day breakfast'. Then off to Countersett, round Semer Water to Stalling Busk and off road again.

Up on 'Shake Holes' ( High Lane )

    Over the top heading down.

Looking down to the road to Buckden.

At this stop Hudders mentioned he thought that he had been along here before but remembered the descent being much harder, with some rock steps and loose rocks. I agreed last time I came over it was a bit more 'tricky', but it was afaw years ago and the old memory is'nt so good these days.
So off we go down the last bit, round a bend ...................SH******T !!!! heres the rock steps. The old memories not so bad after all.
Onto the tarmac again, Buckden, Kettlewell, back onto single track roads (tarmac) through Littondale,Halton Gill,Settle.

    Settle, late afternoon.

Then across to Slaidburn, Newton and finally Clitheroe. The end of a good day, in good company. Cheers Simon.
We go our seperate ways, arriving home as the light fades.

I remember the "rock steps" on the descent from the national meet. We were moving along the tops, after my puncture, far too fast round the bend then hanging on bouncing almost randomly down the hill, rock step to rock step!

    Ace photos.
