    North West Rideout

A big thanks to everyone for turning up today despite the weather.

I can't download pics but hopefully there will be some posted soon

There were 10 of us in total, Airwolf on his trusty TA, Pigugly & Miss Pig on their TA, newbie Nomad on his shiny 'borrowed' Benelli, Hudders on his AT, Templer on his AT with his missus on her Triumph and his mate Mark on his BMAdv. And me and my nephew on my AT

The roads Airwolf picked were great, especialy the ford, really wish I'd tried to get across now!

    Cheers Shel

I thought about you in all that rain, in particular I did wonder about that ford. I was that way in my land rover a couple of weeks ago and it was running about 12inches deep at a heck of a flow. It was a doddle in in the LR, but would be a challenge on a bike. Still bet you had a better time than me - in the office mostly "just in case anything crops up". It didn't.

I think I saw Phil heading north towards J31 as I was going south this morning.

How was the Salter Fell road?

Had a really good day out despite the weather

Len you chose a good route pity about the ford.

Austin Phil saw you this morning & we gave Salter Fell a miss.

Good to meet some new faces & catch up with some old ones.

Will have to give it another go when the weather is better.

Thanks to all that turned up

What a fantastic ride out, thank's Airwolf for navigating such a brill route and to Hudders for initially suggesting the rideout, it was great to meet up with everyone.

In a strange sadistic kinda way, sometimes, when it is pi**ing it down with rain it can add a little something to a trip - this was one of those times (I think!).

Austin we did pass on the M6 - at about 150mph! I saw the great beams of light emitted from your bike from a long way off, quite impressive!
I must admit to having a little smile as you were heading to work & us for a rideout - that was reversed a little later as we were drenched and you sat in a nice snug office

I'll try & post some pics later

    Re: North West Rideout

Had a good out with Hudders, Mr+Mrs Pigugly, Shel750+nephew Mat, Templer+mrs Templar, Mark and Nomad.

In pouring rain the intrepid XRV explorers headed out through Ribchester, over Jeffry Hill, through Whitewell, skirted Dunsop Bridge, then through the Trough of Bowland.

A decidedly damp team take a break at the 'look out point' to admire the veiw

Of again onto twisty single track roads (that frequently disappeared below water) through little dale , past the wind farm and off towards Salter Fell. A few hundred yards from the start of salter fell we arrived at a small ford.(last week this was a bridge over a small stream)
We sent Pigugly to test the depth, but he chickened out when it went over his boots

After a short discussion on where the bikes would finish up if anyone had a 'mishap' we decided to 'give it a miss'

I dont think Nomads boss would be impessed if the beautiful Benelli made a trip down the rapids

Time to turn around and head back up the hill.

Backtrack toward Caton then towards Hornby, Where we got this view of the 'river' Lune.

HUDDERS and Mr+Mrs Pigugly, with flooded river in bakground.

Through Hornby, Wray, Wennington, High Bentham, then over the tops to Slaidburn, and the cafe at Dunsop bridge. Finally off to Rivington Barn some grub and a good natter.

Thanks to everybody for a good day and a good laugh.

Yeah, Fab day out! Although completely soaked. I blame Phil for this, as he must have hit every puddle there was on the road. The water splashed up behind, even more so with the speed Phil was going at. How nice of him!

    Definitely a day to remember!

    Great to meet everyone!

    A few more pics.

You can see Blackpool from up here (aparently....)

Heading down a tricky single track towards 'THE FORD'

Heres Templer on a 650 Alp

    And Nomad on the Benelli

Shel750 & Matt on the Africa Twin

Airwolf with his 600 Alp & Templers wife with the Speed Triple

The two girls,Templers wife (left) & misspiguglyshandydrinker, next to the Speed Triple.

    Myself testing the water......

All in all, a good day out if a little wet, with a nice variation of bikes, maybe next time we'll see Vanessa out on the spare Alp???
