After great debate about travelling over to Germany on my own, ferry tickets and extra thermals were bought.
Took the Dover to Dunkerque crossing, then straight on the autoroute through France with an overnight stop on a motel in Belgium. On route from the motel I met up with a couple on fellow travellers given away by the hot water bottles strapped to the back of their bike, language problems aside we continued the journey to Nurburg together.
Camp set up it was time to explore, meeting some of the locals.
Weather conditions were much better than expected.
Some bikes were far to clean for the event.
Others had much more fun.
As Friday afternoon be came evening Calumcrow made it over from Scotland.
Campfires set and an evening of the usual XRV merriment continued well into the night.
Saturday morning was quiet as people recovered from the night before.
The sites log pile was starting to clear.
In the afternoon we were invited for a run down the Mossel valley by Bob who Calum had met the year before.
Calling on the way back to watch people playing on the Ring.
The evening events Continued with the roll call for German Bikers lost through the year, which was very sobering as there’d been a hundred!!! Then on to a torch lit parade through the campsite which was utter madness, I got a ride on the back of a GS so I could get some photo’s, and a video will follow later when I get it edited. How we didn’t get wiped out I still don’t know.
Sunday morning soon came around and time to break camp.
Changing my plans I decided to run for home on one go, so did four countries in one day leaving the Ring at 10am and arriving at back at 1.30am
What a trip 1300 miles, complete madness and fantastic people.
Thanks guys, will improve my French and learn some German for next year, and take copious supplies of vegi food!!!!
And Biggest thanks to Lord Vader for planting this mad idea in my head!!
More photo’s and Video to follow.
