Girls are in Norfolk for a few days - shot up there after work for a few hours - had to be back tonight as Ive got an early start in the morning.
250 miles round trip - not a huge distance, but was a good run. Road works the lenght of the M11 didnt help, there and back, Left London in the rain and returned to London to find localised flooding and it absolutely tipping down - stayed dry in essex suffolk and norfolk though.
Was great picking the cars off on the 1065.
Couple of observations
The roads back a night felt like totally different roads and the lack of traffic made them fun to ride - but got paranoid going through thetford forest waiting for a deer to jump out and go boo ....
The Alp returns a consistent 180+ miles per tank fill.
I started to get a bit of jip in my left bicept on the return - odd - will keep an eye on that as I was totally relaxed on the bike - might have just been the wet and cold though
Ear plugs are a must on fast motorway and A road riding - for me anyhow.

Please excuse me as I don't want to sound like a smart ass offering advice but just started reading this thread.
I don't know which way you're doing this but i did it John O Groats to Lands End on a Ducati in one hit and raised over £4,000 for charity. If you are starting from Scotland make sure you have a full tank the night before as you won't find any petrol stations open up there if you go for an early start.
Also stock up with some sandwiches as well as I wasted a lot of time trying to find breakfast early morning after the first few hours riding. Both of these cost me time at the start of the day.
If you set off in the dark watch out for the rabbits and deer up there as well, I nearly got taken out by bambi just before sunrise.
Good luck and enjoy it.
