    Thanks Steve for the feedback.

I've also just read the link and see you are doing it from John O Groats.

Excuse me again if i'm stating the obvious but you need to pre book a hotel in JOG well in advance as it gets busy. I paid the bill the night before and arranged to be off early in the morning before anyone else was up. From memory Wick is the last petrol before JOG on the way up.

No doubt you'll be using satnav, i didn't and got lost around Perth, when there was a diversion for road works which somehow i screwed up a bit Hard to confess too when you've been a courier for years Other than that you could probably do the whole route without a map, (until something goes wrong).

Don't worry if it seems to take an awful long time to get to the Scotland/England border, Scotland's bigger than you realise.

    Satnav? What's that?

As I'll be lost by the time I get out of the back garden, maybe I'd better get one

Re: Longest Day - Training Started

    Hi BDG

Always good to hear from someone who's done it before. Fancy doing it again? There's always room for one more - I think we're up to 32 participants now

We're staying at the Seaview hotel at JOG and will be leaving at 4am. As we've planned to do it on the Longest Day of the year, we're hopeful that we can do it all in "daylight".

We're not riding in a big group as everyone has their own riding pace - and 32 would be a bit of a big group!! So we're all meeting up again at the Land's End Hotel to celebrate quietly when we've finished.

We're also lucky in that those of us who are geographically challenged are being provided with a recommended route by the organisers of the trip.

In fact, the only thing we might have missing is a masseuse for all those aching bottoms at the finish line.

I phoned the Seaview Hotel in John O'Groats to ask where the nearest petrol station is.

There is one right next to the hotel but it is only open from 9AM to 6PM - so if you are arriving at JOG after 6pm on Friday night then you'd best fill up in Wick.

Thanks for the invite but i've got no chance of doing another bike trip this year on top of Namibia, Morocco, Germany plus a few weekends.

The word "divorce" would spring to mind if i tried to do JOGLE for 3 days as well. I know when i'm doing well.

Rekon I better get my arse in gear for this event. Think I will have to start by slapping my butt with a table tennis bat 40 times a day for the next few weeks.

Speaking as one such geographically challenged and directionally special rider, that's a mercy
