Longest Day - Training Started

Work was pretty rubbish this morning, so I bunked the day off, got out the silver dream machine and headed off to start preparing the softer parts of my anatomy for the Longest Day Challenge. No pictures I'm afraid as distance was the objective.

Left Lymington and headed out to Ringwood. Down the A31 to Cadnam then headed down the country roads and out to Salisbury. Salisbury to Amesbury and out onto the A303. Turned off onto the Marlborough road - a great run. Marlborough and down to Hungerford. Then up the A34 to Abingdon. Stopped for a warming cup of hot chocolate at The Black Horse in Gozzards Ford and then headed home straight down the A34, M3, M27 and back through the New Forest.

My lovely, gorgeous BMW took it all in her stride. Had a fanstastic ride. All the roads were great..............but when did the cut down the speed limits from 60 to 40??????

All in all, 200 miles today

Even on the comfortable BMW I was getting a bit numb after 150 miles but after a quick break I was comfortable as anything.

Nice work - my longest ever day's ride was Cape Town to Addo Elephant National Park in one hit - 550miles, that was a long day and still nothing on what you guys are taking on.

Is this Longest Day lark closed to new participants, or could I join the merry band - I won't be an AT owner by then, but the TL1000S could make for an entertaining 800 miles or so!
