    Dambusters run

Had a great run out yesterday, in a vain attempt to find a life I decided to visit the Mohne Dam. I drove here once in the car with my folks but wanted to see a bit more so here's a few pics - sort of before and after.
Barns Wallace designed the bomb that was supposed to ruin the German industry around the Ruhr /Rhine by destroying the dam and flooding the valley and the factories further down river....

And was it your mighty Varadero that caused all that damage?

Oh, I get it, they're archive pictures. Sorry.

I did my bike test around the Mohne Dam on a MT500 Armstrong back during the first Gulf War, I had to do it as I was down as a battle cas replacement as a despatch rider i.e when a despatch rider fell down a hole vacated by a tank or artillery piece and broke his legs, or rode across a mine, I would replce him. Great place and very good historical trip.

    Talking Re: Dambusters run

I used to live quite close to the Mohne and would walk across the dam often. I remember it well; arms outstretched, singing the dambusters theme, zig zaging to avoid the flak, ah, happy days...

It's changed a bit since then, the locals have claimed back a lot of their country and donated it to eastern europeans
