A very very quick summary and few pics and .
9.00am Meet at Services at J31 M6. Me, Stanbloke, Airwolf and Mrs Airwolf, Shel750, and Piguglyshandydrinker.
"spirited" ride to Settle via the some of the finest minor roads in the Ribble Valley. If any of you have ever followed Airwolf you will know what I meean by spirited.
10.00am Settle - told you it was spirited - Met with IanS, Owdoggy, Yeti and (lovely) girlfriend, Hudders, and DoubleO. Bacon Butties and Tea. There was also a group of younger lads on 125 Varadero's - who said they weren't part of the meet, but seemed to know about it.
11.15 Set off via Halton Gill - and Steve C's special road-, Arncliffe, Kettlewell, Coverdale to Leyburn. At an even more spirited pace that seemed to involve quite a lot of flying of the top of humps and several people grinding stands and such like in dips - including me. All in all a very enjoyable blast. I don't know how Airwolf does it or why his wife didn't get off pale and shaking with fear - I would have done as a pillion. 10 minute rest and fag break for some atLeyburn. Owdoggy and IanS depart as we are just a few miles from their's. Owdoggy expresses surprise at the pace of trail bikes compared to his previous sport bike background.
12.00(ish) Set off past military firing ranges heading for Tan Hill Inn - again LOTS of air experienced on the way on more very minor roads. It was very busy at Tan Hill and there was some sort of event going on involving husky dogs towing quad bikes, dozens of subaru imprezzas and Evo's (not linked to the dogs I don't think) and a ford anglia rally of some sort . An interesting place and well worth a visit.
1.30(ish) Started raining. So, quick run down the hill, over Buttertubs pass and into Hawes and stopped at the Pen-y-garth cafe. Peeing down now.
4.00pm. We start going our separate ways. Yeti and (lovely) girlfriend, and DoubleO head East, the rest of us head South, Hudders peels off at Ribblehead viaduct, then via Ingleton to Lancaster. Quick stop at Bull Beck Picnic site to say good bye and Stan and I head off on the back roads home, the others pick up the M6 for wet blast down the motorway. Home at about 5.
A great day out - thanks to all and special thanks to Len (Airwolf) for confidently (mostly) leading us down some awesome lanes, many of which I haven't been down before![]()
