    What a Great Day. Highlands

What a great I had today.

Met up with Steve T and his son at Braemar this morning, then off up over to Glenshee to Kirkmichael. Where we joined the back end of of IAM ride out.

A great run along to Pitlochry for lunch..

On the way back we stopped up Glenshee for the tourist bit.

The MacThomas Clan Stone (The *ockStone )

    Incidents:

Peasant hits Steve's wingmirror, nothing broken but knocked clutch right round..

Silver Car that was trying to run us off the road , Very Nearly Lost a wing mirror.. (Steve's big Boot) but car driver saw the boot coming.. CRAP

Thanks Steve for the riding tips and help. I do need to get that confidence up and following your lines and instructions, have really helped.

Must Get As Much Practice as Possible, my wife rolled her eyes when I said that......

What a great day out, Great weather and fantastic scenery.

Now that does look good, great scenery

Terrible about the peasant but why wasn't he hard at work he should reported to his master and whipped.
You wouldn't get away with it down south, shame.

Spelling not my strong point sorry..

Lessons Learnt : Should have Stopped to collect Pheasant... For Supper.

Try to make better progress through those corners, my weak point..
Try harder to use all the road.

Great to have a couple of chaps to watch and learn from.

Unlike trying to follow sports bikers doing 180mph...

Nice write up LWR - spolling mostike forgiven

Your right - should have collected the road kill and prep'd it for dinner. There was no sign of it on our return - turned into "peasant pate" by car wheels I suspect!

Glad you enjoyed it and even picked up some pointers regards road position etc (well, it looked like you had picked up some pointers from where I was riding on the last leg, before I hurtled off north for the Lecht).

Coffe & cakes on you next time! I'm thinking, Lecht, small cafe on the Strathdon side, some time soon

PS - the thing with the boot and the car mirror is NOT A RIDING TIP. Just thought I'd best point that out.

It is, however, a much mis-understood way of removing said KN*BBy car & driver from the middle of the road

Yes Steve, its on me next time no problem....hmmmmm Cake & Coffee..

I gathered that the Car & Boot incident is not A Officially recommended Practice.. I could hardly believe my eyes..

For everyone else, who is wandering what happened.

We are minding our own business driving down the road, and came upon a car , driving quite slow.. Lead rider positions to overtake.
Car started to drive down center line...... Steve takes over lead, just then car brakes sharply... We all brake, apart from steve who now has postioned himself on alongside drivers door... with boot at the ready..
Car thinks better move over to correct side of the road and back off..

As a novice rider it was kind of scary seeing someone in a car using it as a weapon... I was glad we stopped a short while later for fuel so I could compose myself.

I guess it happens all the time but was a real eye opener.

And to expect anything to happen when riding about, stay focused 110%.

When I drive my own car and see a biker coming, I try to help them by moving over and letting them past..
Better than trying to kill them, just because we want to overtake.

Did any of you get the registration number? If so, report it to the police. If nothing else it'll p1ss the car driver off having the cops give them a lecture.

It's not a case of whether we can fix it or not - it's more a case of how fixed would you like it?

Re: What a Great Day. Highlands

Sounds a nice ride, always is though up there

Yes there are plenty of numpties out there who have surprisingly `passed` there driving test, and some that have NOT! always concentrate, the biker who thinks he has learnt everything and stops concentrating is usually not far from being a seriously injured or dead biker. Never assume they have seen you, never assume that they will stop as you have right of way, allways assume the opposite to those two
874 Miles in one day...need a bit of a rest first!
