Taking the scenic route
With a run to Saltburn to catch up with old friends and a spare half day, taking the scenic route over the motorway was a bit of a no-brainer.
Setting off on a murky Thursday afternoon I headed for Slaidburn & High Bentham, stopping a couple of times to warm my hands and put on the waterproofs.....
Next, Ingleton and with the roads drying up, a spirited trip through my old stomping ground of the Yorkshire Dales
, heading to Hawes via Ribblesdale.
Nr Gunnerside;

From Hawes the Buttertubs Pass to Thwaite,Muker and along the Reeth road.
A Fish & Chip supper & warm up in Richmond and a brisk final leg to Saltburn.
What a fantastic, invigorating run that was
Time 5hrs and 160 miles (motorway 2 hrs & 135 miles
)
Up & out of the house at 8am on a cold, murky Saturday morning for the trip home (after a heavy couple of nights on the beer.....).
First stop was Rufforth Autojumble, this time over the North Yorks Moors & Blakey Ridge to Kirkbymoorside, Great Barugh to Amotherby, a small single track road brings us out at Castle Howard.

The impressively straight roads and historic buildings never fail to wow me.

From here, York ring road to Rufforth beckons.
From Rufforth, a food stop is required, so onto a fairly quiet Squires cafe bar and a cuppa/bacon butty.
Motorway home across a very blustery M62.
A cracking short trip that brings out all that is great about motorcycling & the British countryside.
