    Weekend in Normandy

Thursday PM and I was getting excited and apprehensive.
I was on my way to Normandy, How would the Bike behave?
After all the problems with the Headlight, would it work properly, or what else will go wrong?
I got the Bike out of the shed and fitted the panniers, then I loaded them with the kit I was taking for the weekend, including extra tools and Rachet straps.
I fitted the Sat Nav to the bike and loaded the tankbag. I plugged in the ipod and at 6PM I rode off towards Portsmouth. I got there at half past eight and had no problems with the bike, first hurdle completed.
Now I just had to wait for Jacqueslemac to arrive.
After what seemed an eternity he pulled into the port.
Another long wait and we were into customs here we had to open one of our panniers, incase a stowaway had snuck in.
Now we were waiting in the line to load onto the boat.
suddenly after another long wait we were allowed to enter the boat in front of every one else as we were to be at the front of the Lorry deck.
We made our way to the passenger lounges jacqueslemac on deck 7, me on deck 8 in a sleeper seat. we settled down for the night at sea.

    Re: Weekend in Normandy

    FRIDAY
Time to wake up and look out of the window.
The French coast was in sight, I went to find Jacques, He was completely surrounded by bodies, his deck looked more like a refugee camp than a ferry.
we went up to the open deck and took in the view.

    Entering the port.

After another long wait we were allowed down to our bikes and then off the boat and through passport control and out onto the french roads.
A short ride from the port we came to the first hurdle, How to get across this,
    where we had come from.
Jacques checking the route on his sat nav.

The bikes awaiting the riders to finish taking photos.

Me excitedly waiting with my steed..

    Re: Weekend in Normandy

    We stopped here for Breakfast,

And as we left I caught a post with my pannier and put a slight dent in to the pannier. (No photo but a dent is a dent.)
    WE stopped here

This is where the Observers would have got the view of all the Allied ships on D-Day.

Yes but with the wind blowing across it, it was a challenge to stay on course.
