for some years now i have been helping the west glos and dean bike club observe at their wygate long distance trial.the forest of dean is a great place to ride any type of motorcycle and is especially true regards DS bikes.so,met gary in rhiwbina, cardiff at 7.30 and made our way over by backroad, the only way to travel in my book.
can't really see it in the pic but theres a low lying mist in the valley,it was pretty cold at this point.
gary and his modified GN400.
we got to the start at berry hill rugby club a little late but signed on in time.on managing to drag gary out of the clubhouse (only so much twinshock talk one can stand) we made our way across country via a few byways to tintern abbey.here at limekiln woods were situated a couple of sections worth seeing.i was fancying taking the CCM all the way up to the section but sensibly bailed out half way up.i haven't been there since 2002 and its deteriorated somewhat due to our exceptional summers.
had to wait for rambliars to clear the area.nice people, for a change.
CCM back down the track a bit.had a job turning it around later.
paul on the AJS,clean,as usual.
latest incarnation of the beta alp 200.
further up was another tricky section.
another one goes down.observer wastes no time in awarding a "five"
gave this chap my spare split link.what a lovely bike the scorpa Tride is.
we headed off to get a bite to eat before readying our section for the field.nice garden centre near monmouth does good food and outstanding cakes.
once refreshed we headed back up towards trellechand in order to get things sorted.when we got to the section the course openers were already there and did all the stapeling of markers etc.this gave gary time for a quick go on the GN.
customers!
once the last chap was through we just tidied up and took the scoreboard back to the start.after a welcome pint it was a blast home to leave enough time to allow me to make a lovely lamb curry and watch the superbikes.champion.![]()
