An Englishman rides his Transalp through Latin America

Last year I bought a motorbike and learnt to ride it. This year I'm riding that motorbike through USA (only a little), Mexico, Central and South America.

Below is a link to my travel journal:

And here is a link to my Greasy Sprocket site for people that are planning their own motorbike adventure.

    Thanks,
    Ollie

Good luck Ollie. You must have a sore arse with all those highways on a V-twin!

How far you going into S America? If you can, get up to the Altiplano through Ecuador, Peru and down to the Bolivian salt flats. Any way you go, there'll be a load of jealous folk here (me included!)

Thanks for your reply pdsquire. It's more the cramp in the shoulders and lower back at the moment. Have had to create a 'motorcycle dance' to keep all limbs moving when on long, straight roads in the US. Slightly embarassing if caught 'motorcycle dancing' by other motorists but worth it for the pain relief...

I'm planning on going all the way down to southern Chile/Argentina in South America. Will definitely check out your recommendations.

Is there a section on this site to ask if anyone wants to meet up on the way?

    Thanks,
    Ollie

Not that I know of: the forum tends to be for domestic meets. But you could do a lot worse than sending a private message to boomer84, or contact him through his site 2008: A Motorcycle Odyssey - One mans trip over 30000 miles from Cardiff, UK to Vancouver, Canada. I don't think he's done S America or whether he will do, but he's been going for months, seems like an approachable lad and is bound to have some useful tips for you.

    Looks like a great trip.
YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T MOVE AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE DUCT TAPE

There is a meet-ups forum here but as pdsquire says, it's mainly for local rides.

You may know about the HUBB forum for finding like-minded travellers: Travellers Seeking Travellers - The HUBB
