Spoke to Sharrie about doing something like this last year. But have to wait until the monster grows up a few years.

Having read a couple of reports from people on Nick Sanders' tours I have to say it's something I'd avoid. You seem to get coerced into long days and late arrivals. And then you have to put up with a somewhat moody group leader!

Not really the kind of touring I'd like to do but each to his own. It just sounds like hard work and I think this guy acknowledged that.

I would agree with Dave about said tours, your head down bum up all the way. Reading his books he needs the money so the faster he rides the more money he makes 800,1000 miles days are nothing for this biking robot. He needs to meet Sean AND Robster

I've ridden with Nick a few times now and what is said is mainly true. If you want a tour there are other companies offering just that. Nick likes to cover the mileage in a no frills way and it's not every one's cup of tea. The big positive is that Nick has the contacts to get you out of trouble and can provide guidance. We did not detect any moodyness though - perhaps this was aimed at those misinterpreting Nick's idea of a tour for something less strenous, less frantic, less unplanned and better accomodation or more regimented

When I've ridden his routes he was not with us all the time - in fact we hardly saw him as he left us to our own routing - our aim was to get to the guided locations mid afternoon and then play / explore for the rest of the day so we were not on the bikes all the time. Mostly this worked but there were some days in Eastern Europe where time / border controls and the elements were against us.

That said I would do it again given the chance because I liked the rawness of it and having been to places he's been to which are mainly off the beaten track, I would not feel daunted by the prospect of heading that way on my own in the future
