London Calling May 09
Met up at Rykas with Big Rog, Jem, PDsquire and newcomer Dr Law, who joined recently just to do The Longest Day.
Dr Law spent Sunday in three separate AA recovery vans getting her BMW 650 home from Wales so she was out on her little 250. After the sun of Sunday it was a gray, overcast morning. We set off after a cuppa and did a few very minor roads round Ewehurst etc - one of which was covered in horse manure, rain water and other sludge, mainly hiding potholes you could have hidden Dr Law's bike in, so I made a note to avoid that one in future. We stopped for waterproofs when it started raining and then stopped for a pee break and a spot of breakkie in Warlingham about 10ish, when it tipped down just after we got inside the cafe. Then we rode round Biggin Hill, through the fringes of Lewisham and across Blackheath, turning down to the Thames Barrier. It was a bit bleak still, though Jem and I were roasting inside our waterproofs so stripped off despite the drizzle. It was a good move because the sun came out soon after. We crossed on the Woolwich ferry and toured north of the river and Docklands then back through the Rotherhythe tunnel, across Tower Bridge and back across the river one more time to end up at the London Eye. PD Squire had to depart so the four of us crossed Westminster bridge, past Parliament and along the Embankment before heading to the Ace for a monster fry-up. Sadly for Jem and Dr Law who had not been before, bikes were few and far between as it was a car day, but that means no queues for food and we had a table uninterrupted for more than a hour. Lovely to meet everyone. Let's do London again soon. I will post a video later but here's a very short set of cutting from my new side-on camera position of my bike's reflection.

Must re-read my posts before sending them.
Obviously We were still in our biker gear - everyone! (hang on, that doesn't sound right either).

Re: London Calling May 09
Had a great replacement day on the bike following the disaster of my first weekend on the new blue one - despite the decidedly sizist nature of the post!
![]() Happily not new to the Ace, and particularly pleased on this occasion to have struck a counterside deal with a fellow biker for a herbal teabag for Jem, as he had his own private supply in a little plastic bag. Stereotypes collapsing in all directions. |

![]() Sorry I couldn't do this one, if only to have relieved the pressure on Whealie. Recovered from the Roasting has he ? (not mentally obviously !)
