    Scottish weekend at Kyle

Hi all, well we had a blast this weekend, myself, Steve t and Rickskye!
I met Steve t at his house at 10.00 on a nice sunny Saturday morning and we headed off west from Moray.
We dined at Newtonmore before heading off to meet Rick on the road from Spean bridge and onwards to the base camp at Reraig.

Reraig Caravan Site near Isle of Skye

A lovely small site with clean facilities, it only caters for a few small tents but I have found this an excellent campsite to use as a base for touring the west coast and the islands when it's just me and Fiona.
Once the tents were up we headed off with Rick for a tour on the isle of Skye, which didn't disappoint! Thanks Rickskye for the most entertaining route of the weekend!

Return to base for supper in the adjacent hotel, well cooked, good food followed by a couple of drinks then a brew before turning in for the night. Overnight the rain was quite heavy and this followed into the morning but went off after breakfast which brought out the midges! Tents packed away we headed off back down the road towards Inverness. A quick stop at Lowflyers for coffee and biccies then onwards home to Moray, where we were greeted with rain for the final 5 miles!

Over all, a good weeekend away was had, over 400 miles covered and some breathtaking scenery was seen! Special thanks to Steve t who made it, even if he was a bit rough all week! And to Rickskye for a cracking tour of the south of the island, still don't believe you about those rocks by the way

A few photo's from yesterday - none from today - who wants to see pictures of rain & wet roads

Bikes parked above Loch Loyne on the A87

    Can you tell that AfricaJim has dropped a pound . . . . .

BBV looking sweet in the sunshine

Loch Loyne dam with AfricaJim not quite succeding with his "Stig" look . . .
Just after this photo I got a luverly case of gravels rash - Thanks Jim

Looking south towards Shiel Bridge from a view point near Keppoch, above Loch Duich

And finally, a view of the Cuillins from Tarskavaig.

Allegedly funny shaped rocks mentioned by Jim are on the right of this photo! Just look like rocks to me

Thanks guys for an enjoyable weekend. Thanks Jim for introducing me to that delightful camp site - what a excellent little set up. Thanks Lowflyer for the refreshments & nibbles
And finally, thanks to Rick for a really interesting ride & nearly inducing a "in helmet vomit" moment, such was the nature of the road to Tarskavaig . Who needs roller coasters with roads like that?

And if anyones interested in the art of rear wheel steering whilst the front wheels off the ground - ask Jim

    Steve T

Yeah, untill I came to Skye, rocks was rocks. When you spend 6 months (evenings) cutting into Skye with a diamon blade on a 2000 watt 9 inch angle grinder, dust evey where, beating the **** out of them with a glass fibre handled sledge hammer, to get some foundations for the kitchen, you have to take an interest.

I am so glad you enjoyed the run, if you have some time there are some other runs around skye that are pretty good as well, in fact anyone reading this is welcome.

Ha ha! Well, at least you know your kitchen isn't going anywhere!
I'll take you up on that offer some time Rick, must come over and make a few days of it. Would also like to spend some time having a cast as well, I don't get fishing too often
