Coast ride around Ireland (pic heavy!)

Well I didn't do it all, but I managed to join BrowneTara for the second half of her trip around the coast of Ireland. Luckily for me it was the dry half, and virtually the only good weather we've had the entire year ! The difference a bit of sun makes is astonishing, the roads were great and the scenery stunning, so here's some pics....

Above is a memorial to those lost at sea.

Ogham stone. Any translators out there ?

    Who's watching who ?

Remnants of two conjoined huts to the forefront, and fulacht fia to the right.

Stone circle, with the previous huts and cooking area in the background.

This little devil tried to take his revenge for all the burgers I've eaten over the years, but failed in his nefarious suicide attack so we made sure to round him up for future snacking.

Anyone know the species ? Biggest monster I've ever seen.

    Toys for the boys

Not bad for a commercial campsite!

Priest's Leap in Kerry, from which point in older times a priest is reputed to have leaped across Bantry Bay on horseback to escape his would-be captors.

Looks like a stand off from an old Western movie - "OK kid, go for your gun"

Is this what happens to you when the wind changes?

Fantastic photos - especially like the wide angle shots - really do give a great impression of space and solitude

    Thanks for sharing

Well, i have to say if anyone is looking for a traveling companion, paddy is the best you can have! Really enjoyed the company, scenery and the banter. When i get organised, if any of my photos can compare with 'Lord Lichfield' here, i'll stick em up. Great trip, planning Scotland next year already! 1,770 miles in 9 days, and most of them on single lane roads, or even grass tracks! Great way to spend a few sunny September days!
