Offroad riding course
Hi Everyone,
Had an offroad course this weekend in the Netherlands. Great fun, even if my brother spent the evening in A&E because he twisted his knee. We both agreed we'll be doing this again very soon!
The day started with some theory, and once we were suitably suited and booted, we were underway.
The focus was on braking technique in the loose sand, sit back, allow the rear wheel to lock up, and keep the bike straight. Then get the front wheel in on the action as well.
After that, we did some cornering excercise on grass, learning how to corner with your foot extended as a pivot point and such, really useful.

Lunch was next, and consisted of home made soup and sandwiches, really nice, but we couldn't wait to get going again.
My brother had an off early on the day (going into the corner faster than he should have, catching his toes behind a rock in the sand and twisting his knee) so he couldn't stand on the pegs comfortably, so that ruled him out for a few laps on the circuit. I'd had no such bad luck and did 5 laps before we moved on.

It's harder work than I expected, and after just 5 laps I was sweating and panting like crazy!
Since the other members couldn't ride on the circuit for various reasons, we didn't stick around and went for an extra long bimble along the lanes.
Absolutely excellent day, and we can't wait for my brother's knee to recover and try again!
