Sundays adventure on Cambridgeshire’s smooth lanes.

Saturday was spent making a rack to attach an old ammo box to put a few tools in I got annoyed at having the tools, electric pump, and inner tube in the rucksack. The tyre levers didn’t fit inside so I bolted those outside.

Got an early start Sunday a small amount of fog around other than that it was clear blue sky’s.

I did a few of the local lanes on route to make sure nothing fell of the bike then it was on to a lane near Abbotsley a new one for me turned out to be a very nice easy to ride smooth lane.

Having ridden in loads of mud over the last few months I forgot how slippery damp grass can be I did have one moment of full lock at 15 mph slowed down a little after that.

    Then on to Knapwell http://www.bdcc.co.uk/XMarksTheSpot.htmg=TL3400962310&t=TL3400962310

    Then onto Longstanton

This lane did originally cross a disused railway line. The old railway has been turned into the new guided bus way.

I then headed to Willingham there was a lot of rubbish dumped in a few places on a really nice lane.

Rude not to have one of the bike.

Lot of lanes in the Aldreth area all very easy going.

One of the lanes I keep coming across neat piles of cutting in the middle of the lane. Later on I found a group of what I can only assume is people on community service clearing the lanes

The nightmare lane of the day was here http://www.bdcc.co.uk/XMarksTheSpot.htm?g=TL5052684014&t=TL5052684014

Quite happy banging along in the usual trance that 2 strokes send me into next thing the bikes gone in a 2.5 foot groove in the long grass turned out to be an over grown nightmare.

The bike was making a horrible noise after this lane I stoped to have a look over it.

I will not bang on much more I got most of the lanes in the area done. Witchford (a couple were closed) Ended up just north of Little Downham headed by the Chatteris lanes on the way home.

    Couple more of the bike

Good thing is many of these lanes are open in the winter maybe Bedfordshire should take notice of what Cambridgeshire is doing in the winter months and keep the lanes open for the bikes.

Nice pictures and ride report, Grass is far more slippery than mud.
YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T MOVE AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE DUCT TAPE

Great pictures Tony, sorry I didn't reply to your text, my bike's in no fit state to be green laneing at the moment. Hopefully I'll finally get the rear shock linkages sorted this weekend and I'll be able to go playing again without fear of the shock snapping off every time I hit a bump, give us a shout if you go out again
