    Witley Long Trail day

Just completed the Witley Long Day trail today, was absolutely fantastic. Around a 90ml circuit of which approx 40% is trail. Took around 6 hrs in total, you are mostly left to your own devices following a route guide (not map). There were a few observed sections (failed miserably here - foot down? I should say so....) but they did add to the fun, nothing too serious. The trails were very dry but there were a number of very wet sections - where they got the water from I don't know....
Around 100 took part and there were a few other XR's to be seen, including an old 185 and 200. Probably a bit much for my AT but the trusty XR took it all in its stride.
Would strongly recommend to all, have a look out for this one next year

Looks like a top day Jeff, and i allways think that it's better to put a foot down than your bike. Are you practicing for a bit of Mountain Maddness or just fun riding......mel

    Hi Phil/Mel,

Yes, pretty sure it/me is going to the Pyrenees and yes, consider this good practice.

How it/me gets to the Pyrenees is yet to be decided........!! Will be looking at/considering all options - van (don't have), trailer (don't have), ferry (could rent), train (could rent) or last but not least - ride (this one I own)!!!

Well fuel in France is effing expensive now, i was paying from 1.35-149 eu a liter on the main drag and if you add the price of the peage it really is cheaper to get the ferry to Bilbao or santander and let the boat do the work. And if you were to grab BobA and put him too work in the galley then it would work out pritty cheap all in all......

If I still have it by next year, how about taking the "BobA Ferry"??????

Seats 7, and could probably take 4 bikes!

Fuel could be an issue though!!!!

    Re: Witley Long Trail day

Rob, you've answered my question as to which mode of transport to use - that verhericle (as I believed it should be pronouced) is both ferry, van and train all rolled in to one!! Absolutely fantastic........
I think Phil and I should buy you an XR just so we get to go in this
(oh, and I'm pretty sure this is the car their going to be talking about at the forthcoming Copenhagen summit on climate control....!)

Lets keep it going guys and we'll have team/plan set for early next year.

For interest, the Santander ferry is around £400 as opposed to (a guessed) £250ish to ferry/ride/camp option.

Still fancy the ride though, for me its all part of the trip....
