Smile A Nice day on Speyside . .

Seeing as it was so nice this morning, despite the sub-zero temperatures, I decided to follow a track down the side of the river Spey.

Kingston beach, on the western side of the river

Where the bike is parked in the picture below didn't exist after last years flood. The newly laid sandstone blocks worked this year in keeping the track intact. At the beginning of the week there was over 4' of water above where I parked the bike! Some of the track has been washed away, which made for some interesting riding over gullies and loose boulders

You cant really see what the river has left behind once it gone down, but believe me the whole stretch behind the bike is littered with full size trees

Finally, a nice picture of the disused railway bridge that crosses the Spey from Garmouth to Spey Bay

Bike was covered in salt by the time I got home. Still, a great hours wandering along a river that's just 5 miles from my front door

    Steve T

Thanks for the views & replies peeps.

Pete, your right, you've yet to experience the less grand bits of the northern regions of Ecosse, such as the Grampians. Just haste ye back when you feel the need to take in some big sky's (but leave more tread on yer tyres for when you get here next time )

Yes Craig, it was / is blinking freezing and the roads are as slimy as ever now that they've started salting them.

Ray, glad you kept it rubber side down.
Undercrackers can be replaced and even cleaned (apparently ), but bits for an a XLV are getting as rarer as XLV's themselves.

John, the BBV was under a duvet in the garage, awaiting some TLC, a new airfilter and a Scottoiler to be fitted. And anyway, who'd take a 220kg bike with road tyres fitted over wet grass & boulders just for a picture opportunity?
Nice to see that it only took you 4 weeks to change two sets of brake pads

    TTFN,

    Steve T

No where on the TA just yet. Waiting for a rear TKC to arrive for the TA, then it's off to the nearest forest trail / quarry to properly scrub the new covers in.

The Vara will hopefully get it's new air filter fitted tonight, followed by a carb balance check and the fitting of a Scottoiler. So, where we going this Sunday? (Saturday's forecast of downpours are not wot I want to ride in just now - Sunday is looking better though )

I await your call, when your not too busy of course
