    off road

finally restored my phone/computer interface. Here's some pics taken a couple of months back on the Slaidburn end of the Salter Road. I didn't go past the bridge as I was on my own and it gets real gnarly up that steep slope with all the rounded stones......

I like the sign in the 1st pic - "no cars". This sign usually has a motorbike in it too. The 4th one shows one of the gates on the track - the wide bit is locked to prevent the 4x4s getting up. The Weak bridge is about 2km up the track, which to be honest is easy enough, even for the Varadero, but the sense of isolation is amazing - the nearest house is about 4Km away and there are no real signs of civilisation.

Its the Salter Fell Road, also known as The Hornby Road. Southern End Grid Reference is SD692 548 - which is about 2 miles to the North West of Slaidburn. The Northern end is SD607 625 which is about 3 miles south of Wray. Follow the signs for Mytton Farm crafts from either Slaidburn or Newton - go straight past the Craft Shop/Barn thing and you will get there.

Google map A and B mark the South and North end - ignore the route.

They are Givi crashbars. I would have thought they will fit a VA6. They were on the bike when I got it - from Stanbloke.

The only difference (fitting wise) in the bars seems to be whether the vara has a plastic belly pan or alloy bash plate as the bottom brackets are different.

I've the same bars on my VA9, they seem pretty substantial.

Fine looking Varadero mate, damned sexy those black one's! Glad to see your using it for what it was made for, I've had a few offroad adventures with mine as well. Crackin pics

This area of Lancashire has very few green lanes. This is about the only decent and long one in a very big area.

In fact the Forest of Bowland has very very few footpaths or bridleways and until it was recently opened up with the Access bill there were very few places you could legitimately go. Mind most of it is blanket peat bog and heather and much too hard work for the casual walker.
