Cheers mate, I'll just paint them with Satin black hammerite, as said, it'll probably happen again!
As for protecting the protectors with pipe lagging? That's like having two spare tv's in case the 1st and 2nd one break down! (Oh no, I'm down to my last ten tv's, what if they start breaking down????) Ha ha!
Crash bars worked, end of. A bit of paint and we're cooking!
Oh and a bit of heat and bending for that brake pedal! Not sure what to do with the plastics though, any thoughts on removing scuffs? Not painted bits, the black plastic that connects to the belly pan.

Ha ha! Not really, she just asked if I was ok, the bike will fix so problem solved! Hopefully I'll feel ok tomorrow, past experience is usually next day sore bits appear!
Just one of those things, a gravel track, rear slid out, but in correcting it the front washed out as well and that's all she wrote!

As Confusious said "man with hole in pocket feel cocky all day, man with two holes does not feel too cocky" Should've worn my old trousers! DOH!

    Glad your OK Jim
Ref the platics how bad is the damage, normally unpainted plastics have a rough surface which is impossible to repair without it showing, If you want the best finish you can try Sanding the scuffs out or CAREFULLY melting them out, all the raised scuffing will melt and lay flat again but you'll lose the surface and it will shine, so afterwards you could if you wanted treat it with plastic primer and paint it.

Jim...Back to Black type stuff is the best for scuffed plastic similar to car bumpers.
Not brilliant close up but good from a short distance.
I've used a cheap Tesko one but any 'tart up spray' should suffice.

Re: In the words of James May "Oh C#ck"!

Thanks all, I painted the crashbars with satin hammerite after a good rub down, the plastics I rubbed with fine emery and used the back to black, not too obvious now, then heat treated the brake pedal, it was quite floppy with a bit of heat and bent back no problem!
    The mighty Varadero has recovered!
I'm ok too, a sore elbow but that's a muscle issue I've had for a month or so, aggravated by lifting the bike, my knee is sore but again, an aggravated old injury by sliding along the ground on it! I'm ok to ride though and plan a few miles tomorrow!
Bring on the next adventure, Galloway forest park! Yeehaa!

Tis a new one that's only got a walkers width of path round it - with a 4 ft drop beyond that - not great for getting a hulking great big Vara past

Looking forward to you getting yer arse out of the driving seat and onto the riding seat
