God, I hate people with immaculate bikes! Must get a steam cleaner or pressure washer on mine! My only excuse is I bought it like that.

Ray, the secret is to only take pictures of the clean areas...oh and Photoshop comes in handy too.

the filter was caked in black, oily crud, as is the rest of the underside of the gearbox. Right sod to loosen, couldnt get a grip. Finaly put the strap wrench away and used a chain wrench. Just enough room to wrap it round th filter.
I`ve never got in such a greasy mess just doing an oil change, not even on my Mini`s!

Know what you mean mate. Had the same experience changing the filter on mine - do you have to drop the engine guard to get to the filter on a DA04? Don't think mine had ever been cleaned under there at all.

Yes, same as the 07 then.

Changed the sparkplugs and balanced the carbs on mine - took two long evenings

Front left plug is v. close to the radiator and it's own coil - between them they conspire to make things difficult. Carb balance screw is almost inaccessible too.

PS. How do you insert an image to a posting?

Edit the image in a graphics package to make the size 800 x 600 or less and the file size 50kb's or less.

Jim, did you move the rad. to get to the plug?

Yes I did undo the left radiator but it didn't move much, enough though to get the plug cap out of the recess (first potential problem) and a socket on plug socket without damaging the radiator (second potential problem).

Don't know if yours has four coils Ray, but if it's anything like mine, I'd remove the coil first so you can get the plug cap out of the recess - it was a right s*d get the thing out and I only twigged to removing the coil AFTER I'd put it back in again
