No have not done any triaining, but a waiting to do the Enhanced rider scheme early in the new year see DSA web site for details. Back in november went on an assessment rider with the local IAM group. the observer did not listen when i told him I was not a fast rider, half way round the route stopped for a chat first think he said was I need to ride faster! I think he must have forgotten under key safety points (page169) of Motorcycle Roadcraft No 1 ride at a speed which is safe and at which you are confident and competent. Think I will leave it there. Also going to do Bikesafe in 2008
About 15 years ago a couple of police motorcyclists based at Alperton Garage near Wembley ran a one-day course where they taught the police method plus some advanced riding techniques. It included the afternoon spent with one police rider to three 'instructees', each having to spend about 40 minutes on the front 'making progress' while the instructor watched, followed by a debrief.
I was lucky enough to get on the course; it was one of the best days I have spent on a bike. It certainly made my riding much more precise and consistent.
They still do this, and it was my introduction to Advanced Riding. Nowadays it's all thoroughly organised with a countrywide standardised package, which they call bikesafe.
I'd recommend it to everyone.
