Off-road experience days

Hello,

I am thinking of getting an off-road experience day off farther christmas...

Now I have never done any off-roading before, the most I have done is mountain biking and I enjoyed that a lot.

Been looking around and I have been tempted to do the Yamaha schools day. The price is about right and you get all the gear as well. Also there is one in Bolton which makes it nice and local too. Has anyone done the Yamaha one? In particular the one at Bolton?

Thanks a lot

Charlie

Re: Off-road experience days

Hi Charlie

Me and Pete did the Yamaha one at Bolton earlier this year and it was excellent. Well worth the money. You can learn a lot without having to worry about the bike or smashing up your dad's Transalp. The bikes we ran were WRX 250 and 400 enduro's.

What was good for me was being able to use information I had learned from an offroad riding techniques training DVD for big trailees and apply it to these bikes. Because they are small in comparison to the Africa Twin they responded quicker and better to the input, which has given me more confidence on the AT.

A good mix of terrain and conditions from deep water, sand, wet sand, slippery wet rocky sections and an enduro route through the woods, oh and lots and lots of mud.

Take a towel, change of clothes, your own food and a hydration bladder as you'll get thirsty. They supply everything else including tea's and coffee's.

If Father Christmas comes through for you enjoy it.

Re: Off-road experience days

DON'T.

I did one in Wales, back in the mists of time, and look where that got me!!

(Really though, they are fab, I was out with Geraint Jones and co, what a learning curve!!)
