Re: xrv info

on a forum called XRV.ORG of course you will get a total biased opinion

but seriously the XRV or just Honda in general will do you well

im sure a klr650 could drive round the world if you wanted

commen milage for the xrv, xlv is way up in the 100,000's, one guy on here is on 230,000 i think and many others above 100,000.

the engines never stop its just the consumables that need replacing

it all really depends on how its been mantained and where its been stored(but even then theres some out there never looked after and totally abused and still running strong ) , regular oil changes is something you want from a old bike, look for something with some service history, i like to know about my bike and make sure its serviced often just for piece of mind really and also so silly things that could cause you to break down i.e snapped cables, hopefully dont

at end of the day any bike will drive round the world, but in what comfort? or without breaking? Theres many choices to be made, but if its your dream bike then make it the dream trip too......

Welcome to the forum, gtar.
The mileage is not that important, as long as it has had regular services.
The engine was originally designed in the early 80's and has not changed much so must be good.

Re: xrv info

Drive to Australia?

Are you going to stay a longer time in Australia?
I think the Africa Twin never were officially imported, check if spareparts
are easy to find down under.

If you decide to go the Africa Twin way, go for the RD04-RD07A e.g.
MY 1990 - 2000 (Newer then 2000 are actually produced in 2000 but sold and registered later).
Then ask around on this forum for tips and trix on how to prepare your bike for the long distance travelling you are planning.

The KLR650 is not a bad choise either, it's been around for a long time now, so all issues are well known.

Re: xrv info

ya cant beat the japs eh . i was expecting a bias opinion allright . but honda certanly are a top class bike. im a mechanic by trade so have seen the changes over the past 10 years in electrics for feul econemy, comfort, handeling ect. its caused more trouble than good in my experience . i dont want to break down because of a senser or potentiometer. how have the hondas changed recently in regards these complicated unesesary extras ? what year did they change ? you may have noticed i dont like comlication. ( i drive a 1986 gpz ) .

ya im emigrating. so decided why not drive ! ya i noticed theres not much xrv's in oz. i am still concidering the klr, its lighter and would be easier to handel offroading, not sure how it would handle the weight of lugage compared to the xrv. and id rather the twin than single cyclinder. what are you saying about the modles R-ect ?

For some reason judging by the aussie membership on www.XTZ750.com the Super Ténéré seems to be more popular in Oz...there even used to be a guy who did chrome-moly replacement frames for them..
