Betty Swallox !!!

Jeez !! offroad riding on a hot day. !!

I guess a road biased jacket and flip-lid are not ideal ???.

I need to get the right gear before I shrivel into a wallnut.

Good fun though I wish I had taken it up 40 years ago.

I was in the same position on Saturday although I was glad of the armour on a couple of occasions. I reckon it's time to get something a bit more versatile. My full-face road lid was probably worse than a flip lid for getting air in - but as I'd forgotten my hayfever meds, that was actually an advantage

Re: Betty Swallox !!!

I brought over my Hein Gericke Touareg gear from Holland for the Longest Day and a 2 week bimble through Spain... Took it out Saturday & Sunday... It may look like desert kit, but it's not half hot in there!

Took out the waterproof lining from the jacket and that helps a bit, but still hothothot...

I believe the Dakar riders wear a mesh vest with the protection, and a thin blouson over the top...

Still, I'm quite sure I'll need something slightly waterproof for TLD and the Spain trip...

The problem is on trips, you need to compromise. The kit won't be as cool when riding in the burning sun, but you won't freeze if it starts raining...

Re: Betty Swallox !!!

Hi all
I know what you mean about HOT out here 35° plus is the norm. from May to September but even here it rains so i bought me and the other half these summer jackets very light ,fully padded in all the right places and the orange liner is like a string vest for good air flow while the outer is also fine open material !!! you can see this in the last pic!!!! even though its black it works a treat all for 80euros and for the rain we just carry cheap nylon over pants and jacket that roll up to the size of your fists, 12euros a set but only realy good for an hour or so!!! but thats normaly enough to get you somewhere dry
