    AT vs Transalp

    Help
I have decided to sell the xr400 as i find myself doing more road than trail and the boss will not let me have 2 bikes.

I need a bike to cope with a 6'3 big(fat) bloke on a 17 mile commute on B roads and a bit of city traffic, plus able to do the odd bit of lane.

So is it an AT or a transalp the one for me

I would say, test drive both models, and decide yourself.
(One mans poisson, is another mans Vodka)

So many aspects and parameters to take in consideration.
In the end, it is you that have to live with it, and drive it.

Both of them are great bikes, both have virtues of their own.

Which ever model you chose, find a well cared for bike, and perhaps pay a few bob extra, it will be worth it in the end.

If your 6'3" I would say AT ..........
    2011 Triumph Tiger 800 - "Black Pussy" - MMMM Nice !!!
    2000 Suzuki DRZ400S - "Ol' Yella" - very bright
    2011 Peugeot V-Clic 50cc - "Scoot" - It's my wife's, an enjoyable ride.

    I have a house , but I can't guarantee it's safe !!

    You pays your money . . .

For what it's worth, I'm 6' 4", about 21 stone and fit on a 700 Alp with no bother (although, when I see a picture of me on the bike, it looks as though it's shrunk!). Even room for her ladyship on the back (but she's only "petite"). I've also had a 650 Alp in the past - same applies.

    Cheers,

    How long are your legs?

If they're 36" you won't be able to get your knees in under the fairing on the 650 alp, 600 would be ok, and I haven't tried the 700

both very good bikes and will both happly do what you ask of them, however the transalp is more road based and the africa twin more off road based, so ask yourself which would you prefer? if you plan on doing a good few lanes get the AT, if its more road work then the transalp
    everything is OK

Got to disagree with that, especially if its a 600 Ta I would say equal with a slight in favour to a TA off road as its lighter, the @ does have more stomp though
