    >and having to sit behind some idiot doing 40mph in a 60 for another 5 minutes.

    Or a caravan!!!

When I retire, I intend to buy a caravan and take my holidays from Devon to Birmingham. I will drive around brummy streets at 10mph all day long towing the thing behind. Lets see how they like it!

All I have to say is wether you have 100BHP or 50BHP the throttle works both ways.

I don't think it could be passed, this law exists in france & it's a complete waste of time , on most modern sports bike the disconnection of a single wire will de restrict it so everybody does & the police need to carry a bike adapted rolling road thing with them in order to test anything...

there is actually a legal case in the european courts about the fact thah france is the only country in europe where this rule exists & it should therefore be abandoned on the basis of free circulation of goods (2nd hand bikes) Their basing their attack on thr various gouvernements own accident statistics.

france doesn't have any lower motorcycle deaths than most other eu countries, au contraire...

I don't think its a bad thing cause as many have already pointed out most people hardly use half their power. Torque is much more useful, so design the engines for that. Suppose if they ever did do something like that the price of second hand bikes with over 100bhp would go up, unless the insurance companies turned round and insisted that they all be restricted too. Personnally i have no interest in much more than 100 bhp. One of my reasons for changing from the @ was that i felt it was down on power but i did find the Tiger a bit too fast sometimes.

At the end of the day though, i do feel people should within reason be allowed to make their own choices. If someone buys a bike with 160bhp and kills themselves or goes to jail, that is their choice, no matter how stupid or selfish it is.

It is actually the power to weight ratio that counts.
The bikes are getting lighter and the power is getting higher, the rider is getting heavier, overall it should balance out.
The majority of accidents are riders who are returning to bikes after a break.
The bikes have changed a lot over the years the born again biker has not had time to readjust.

I agree, but torque doesn't sell bikes.

whateevr law they try to bring in restricting a freedom of choice i will object
i would not ride a bike without a helmet but respect Fred Hills stance against the law, what next we have the 30 mph .0005 bhp moped law that puts 16 year olds on the road with 200+ mph cars 55MPH truck and buses to dela with, hopefully it will go away
