I use an old pair of Dainese Goretex all season boots, I've lost cout of how may years I've been using them but it's been a long time. To be fair their probably well overdue for repacement, as on the Goretex is probably no longer effective now.

However I coat the outside of the boots liberally & regularly with Nikwax leather walking boot waterproof wax. and when its really wet I swear by Sealskinz socks, available in walking / outdoor shops. Sealskinz are not cheap, but are very comfy and also double up as thermal socks as they are very warm!

The boots may end up getting saturated but my feet stay toasty warm and dry!
