Insurance is not too bad now as I am only paying £108 f/c with no voluntary excess which includes the motorists legal protection waffle (So £83). The IAM thing should knock 5%-10% off that so it will probably make a pint of beer or two of a difference. Being an old git does have some advantages I suppose.

I'm sure there are more advantages, but I can't remember what they are.

Nice one Gordon, at least it's out the way now and you can start putting the GS on/off the stand safely again

So does this mean you are now trained to keep up with me?

You could easily out do me in the beer stakes, i'm a lightweight when it comes to sinking pints, but pies are a different matter

    Well done Boris

which we had something similar over here,
I've done advanced riders and drivers courses but it makes no difference financially (quite the opposite there efffin' expensive to attand) and they are no way as close to the standard of IAM or RoSPA, hat off.

Have we any observers in the forum ranks???

    Re: I passed

    Well done Boris

Passed my test some time ago now and immediately went about taking observer training.

Got a good way through it until my work took over a lot of my 'free-time' so handed the chalice over to a guy who has since passed and now observes associates.

It was the amount of free-time that you had to give up that stopped me from continuing as, if you don't already know, being an observer is a little like being a pilot of sorts.

To continue to be an observer you need to keep up your 'flying time' with regular observed rides and observer training courses.

So what with work, normal biking stuff and a pretty young family I had to postpone it but hope to give something back once I get the chance.
