Antonio, like i have previously said, my first national i rode nearly 400 miles on the Saturday, had a pint (or 2) on the night and set off for home on the Sunday morning.

Had a great night and defo glad i made it, even if it was just for one night.

It's a long way so it's up to you, i say ditch the rugby so theres no rush

Surely this would bring very little rationale to the whole event....havent even got a tent....

Leave London to Rosedale Friday, about 4 1/2 hours. Drink/camp.

Saturday leave about dinner to Richmond 1 1/2 hours then gun it to London 4 hours easy.

Loads of time. If you leave early Friday you could go to Altburg Friday.

Ok, a quick update......

There is NO mobile phone signal in Rosedale - you will need to drive a mile or two to get signal.
There is no Cash machine in Rosedale
There is no supermarket/fuel etc.

I don't suppose you checked out the toilets/shower facilities did you? It's just that toilet numbers etc were mentioned as a concern (apparently from a previous visit from a large group) and i was going to look into it. As far as i know though, it's not a problem.

What a dilemma, I was kinda hoping I wouldn’t need to bring either Chemical Toilet or Beer... guess it’s time to test my resourcefulness, take the Porta Potti then use Tesco home delivery to bring beer to the campsite?? Ah, no mobile signal??! Ok, fill the Potti’s holding tank with beer and hope it’s not required before the beer has been consumed...doh Ok, better find a way of bringing both, Potti on the front mud guard maybe Anyway, you all seem like a load of beer drinking, bike talking fruitcakes!!...I should fit right in!!!

It's been hammering down all august here in Cloggistan, you English lot tend to get the same kind of weather or worse, and the campsite is at the bottom of a bloody great hill so I assume things must be rather soggy by now?

Better bring the groundsheet, I guess.

Love this forum...you always get sensible advice I will check if altberg are ok at sizing me for saturday and the gun up Rosedale on the Friday afternoon....if I butter the boss up she may decide to let me go slightly earlier than 5.30.....I read somewhere there are some mobile home accomodation or something in the campsite...is this true.?

Have a chat with the boy about how much he loves rugby and how much you love being at the National with your XRV mates and how, as a compromise would if be OK if just this one Sunday you don't go to rugby training.

If he still says he wants you to go, then just let him down and don't turn up. Life's not fair. It will be good lesson for him
