Two medium springs will be easier to install than one stiff spring.

I got a brand new Honda OEM part from David Silver Spares..... ok it was more expensive than the Romanian one, but it even included new exhaust gaskets !!

No way of having two springs on it. I'll try a stiffer spring if it doesn't ease with use

I didn't need to move exhaust. It's a solid bit of kit and a god price. Has anybody else had the same problem with the spring on the Heavy Duties centre stand?

I didn't have to touch the exhaust when I fitted the Heavy Duties version either. Mine retracts ok, did you grease everything well as you fitted it? Have you asked HD about it? They were excellent in resolving an issue when I lost a pannier mounting clip. Chris

No..I didn't grease it at all. Loosened fittings and wd40'd it but still sticking. Greasing it would be best so I'll try it when I get time.
    Thanks

It's got to be worth a shot I'd have thought.
