Exclamation Wanted: Rear Wheel For Transalp Xl650v

Hi, I took my 2001 Transalp to bits just before Christmas and am now trying to put it back together. I've replaced almost every rusty bit but the rear wheel is badly pitted and I would like to replace it.

I have been scanning E-Bay for months now with mixed results (Note: Never, ever trust a breakers listing . Long story, but I got my money back).

I've also tried the usual companies, David Silver Spares etc, but £302 for the rim alone is a bit pricey.

Does anyone have a nice clean one they want to sell or have any ideas where I might get one?

    Thanks ,

    Davy P.

Not sure if this will be any help I have a wheel from a XL600V 87/88 the hub will not be any use to you (drum brake) but the rim is like new it’s a TAKASAGO 17xMT 2.50 which is a trading name for Excel Rims if you think the rim will fit make me a offer I need the space, I can put some photos of the rim on here if you interested

Thanks for replying, I will speak to a mate who will know if it will fit or not. It may take a few days as I think he's on holiday. Can you give me some idea of how much you need for the rim? Thanks, Davy P.

    hi Ashley & Dave
I just wondered what the outcome of this exchange was? And if wheel still available wonder if it will fit my 1992 XL600V?

If not, does anyone know how to find out which if any wheels are compatible?
    thanks
    Michelle

Re: Wanted: Rear Wheel For Transalp Xl650v

    Hi Michelle,

I've just got my hands on two brand new Transalp 600 front wheels. One has four bolt holes for the brake disc and the other has 6. I'm not sure what year these are for but they are new (Nice and shiny) and have never been fitted to a bike.

They were Police Authority old stock that I bought as a job lot at Auction.

I was hoping one would fit my 2001 Transalp XL650V, but they only have the fitting for one brake disc.

I was about to put them on E-Bay for £150:00 each plus £20:00 for P+P. You can have first refusal if you like. I'm sure you have priced these with a main dealer, so you will know that these are cheap.

    All the best,

    Davy
