RD03 for sale or swap for GS??

Hi chaps, I am seriously thinking about moving over to the dark side and joing the GS'ers, and therefore thought about raising the question, how much is my XRV650 worth?

The spec:
1989
70000km
12 months ticket - today!
spec'd for a tall rider (i.e. lowered pegs; lengthened gear and brake leaver; taller refurbed seat - with gel pad, suspension height kit from Africa Queens)
Recently rolling road tuned
Foam filter
Heated grips
Recent Pirelli AT tyres
Soft pannier racks
Higher front (fibreglass) screen with GPS mount and power

This bike has taken me to Morocco, the Stella Alpina, and last week to Scotland in the snow - and it hasn't missed a beat.

What's it worth - or does anyone have a GS to swap with?

Unfortunately being one of the old ones and modified there not much call for them and their values are very low.

Probably worth no more that £500, I could do you a favour and take it off your hands for that amount as I'm looking for and RD03 or RD04 to timker with

Seriously though, subject to pictures you should be looking for £1200 to £1600 depending on condition, although it does sounds very nice. There is one that was featured in MCN this week in their Legends suppliment and that is up for £2200 but it has been on Biketrader for a couple of months so in my view very over priced.

the right person will bite your arm off with about £2000 but they could appear in a few days or take ages price it for the time scale you need to sell in

£1200-£1400 for quick £2000 may take a little longer .its worth what sombodys willing to pay for it

Pictures speak a thousand words, so get some posted up Sir.

You're dealing with an old bike, and the problem is, anyone new to Africa Twins, without any knowledge would just look and think it's way too expensive for such an old machine.

Conversely, any one on this forum, especially one's that have ridden an RD03 will know and tell you it's worth every penny, as it really IS the original Honda Dakar Race Rep.

Sometimes, the list of modifications can put certain (purists) buyers off. If the mods have ben done sympathetically, and in being with what the bike was meant to be/look like, it will only add value in my opinion.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here, and say, from the spec you've listed, and if the appearance/plastics of the bike are good/original I reckon you could easily put it up for between £1500 - £2000 and someone will rip your arm off for the keys.
The pictures are what will sell it and get the interest going on here though, remember we've all seen some amazing AT pics posted on the forum, so there are loads of people out there waiting to see what your bike look like!!

If it's the bike John had in at the Stella,there is a photo of it I took on the camp site in my picture section some place (I loved it,what a big bike !).

That's the bike at the Stella, and I forgot it also has a Scorpion end can - rip snorting! The tank is excellent, and plastics all very good. I have made a mod to the left side pannel to allow easy access to the foam filter - accessed by two dzu clips. I think I am going to name a price of £1800.

Love the mod for the air filter, like everything else I can tell you've done it for practical reasons, this is a bike made to be used and yours is kitted out just for that very reason.

Good luck with the sale, you have the advantage of having a classic and original looking bike.
