    My Transalp's gotta go,

It's no good, having ridden an Africa twin I'm gonna have to get one! So my Transalp's gonna go on Ebay...The question is, what do I put it up for?

It's a 1992 on a J, Italian Import, Burgandy/Purple over silver, 10 months MOT+Tax, Avon Distanzas with 4.5mm on the back - 5mm on the front, less than 30k on the clock, Micron can and original, just been serviced in genuinely good cared for condition.

    What's it worth????

    Re: My Transalp's gotta go,

    It should go for £1
They could not sell woollies for that.
YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T MOVE AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE DUCT TAPE

    Re: My Transalp's gotta go,

A difficult one. It would be difficult even if it wasn't an import, which unfortunately generally go for less. The imports have often led an easier life, so if it's in top condition, that would help get the price up a lot. You don't mention how it looks cosmetically - do you have some pictures you could post? Why not try selling it here as well....

I'd expect over 1k, maybe 1200+ if it's really clean/original, tidy, early drum brake models can fetch £800+

Agree on a Grand or so, It is firmly in commuter bike money and an 'alp would is ideal to advertise as a winter ride I reckon. Local rag often get a bit more that A/Trader or eBay if it's the right machine.

    Good Luck

    Re: My Transalp's gotta go,

What they said. A grand, but the mileage is good and if the bike's had a comfortable life I'd put it on Autotrader for £1,200 and talk up its Winter commuting potential. e-bay seems a bit flat at the mo. Bidding on a few 1988/9s has run out of steam in the £400s and a tidy bike about the age of yours but high miles got £610, so if you're going that route, set a reserve you'd be comfortable with: it may be that's the price you'll get.

    Re: My Transalp's gotta go,

Looking at these replies (and generally I agree with them - don't go under £1000) the other thing that springs to mind is what kind of money do you need to get? In other words, what kind of price range are you looking at for an Africa Twin? They seem to hold their prices horribly well, even in today's climate, and a good late one could be two to three times what you'd get for your Transalp. If you have the extra dosh, no problem, but are you sure you want to part with your 'alp?? If it's a good one you'll probably never find another quite as good....
