    Land Rover Discovery 1995 "M" £1,000

I have decided its time to upgrade my car and sell my Land Rover Discovery. I will put pics up if anyone's interested (when it stops raining). I want a quick sale and will let it go for £1,000, No offers and it is a bargain at that price.

It's a dark red/maroon 1995 300Tdi Discovery 5 door manual. Its has 111,000 genuine miles on the clock - I have ALL the MOTs back to 1998. I have owned it for nearly 4 years and in that time have put about 25,000 miles on the clock. I am the 4th owner. The current MOT runs out in July, it's taxed to end Feb '10.

It has land rover rubber mats front, rear and boot. I have removed the side steps but it has a slightly scruffy bull bar thing on the front. Nice proper Land Rover 5 spoke alloy wheels with BFGoodrich All terrain tyres fitted shortly after I got it. Otherwise its pretty standard. It's got one of those big Land Rover tow bars - I have only used to tow a light camping trailer. While I have owned it it has had an annual service along with an MOT and before me the service book is stamped more or less completely up to about 80,000 miles - one is noted as having the Cam belt changed.

In 4 years it has been very reliable, the only issue I have had is the brakes started binding once - now free'd up and the calipers stripped and cleaned and a bit of welding for MOT. Otherwise its starts on the button and gets 30+mpg if driven with care. I take it very lightly off road very ocassionally on a couple of farms where I organise shooting - nothing more than driving across fields and moorland. The boot floor was replaced when I got it - a weak spot for rust and was hammerited and waxoyled at the time. The interior of the car stays dry all the time.

Bad bits - sadly the usual LR interior build quality applies, so some of interior is loose, and a bit rattly along with the odd broken bit. The following items have a bit of an issue:
    - The solenoid on the Central locking rattles when activated but its been like that for 4 years and not got worse.
    - the remote lock has never worked, Could just be atteries in fob but I have never bothered.
    - the interior LED clock doesn't work
    - The headlight washers are disconnected after fitting the bull bar.
    - Rear washer works when it feel like it
    - front Wiper auto park also works when it feels like it
    - Heated rear window works in places (about the top third which is fine as its the bit you see through)
    - The power steering moans a bit, but again it has done it for 4 years and not got worse.

All these things are liveable with - I should know I have lived with them for 4 years.

There's a bit of rust appearing - last MOT saw some welding on rear door arches and there's a bit on the rear bumper/seat thing - not structural through and if I could be bothered would be easy to fill and patch up. Chassis is reported by the MOT station (friends and I trust what they say and do to the car) to be rust free and thought the overall condition of the underside of the car was perfectly OK for its age.

Price of £1000 is reflective of the overall condition and that I want to sell quite quickly. In my opinion it is a bargain as this is a car that should run and run but is now probably best suited to be a workhorse rather than a family car.

I am going to replace it with a Range Rover

Thats a sound price for a sound truck - all those 'problems' are very minor for a disco! If I hadn't worked so hard on/done so much to mine (a '96 300TDi) I'd be tempted at that price.

    Good luck with it.........

    re: Land Rover Discovery 1995 "M" £1,000

Took the Land Rover for an MOT today and it failed. There is quite a lot of rust in the sills, the floor and and other items of steelwork under the car. So much for my naive belief it was all OK. The rest of it is fine and all got a clean bill of health including the main chassis - the tester took me under the car to point out all the bad bits but then said its a shame coz in all other respects for its age it's one of the best Disco's we've seen.

So, I don't want to shell out for the welding so a big price reduction is coming - I will let it go for £600. No offers. If you are handy with a welder and have the time and space you could create a good car out of this.

    Re: Land Rover Discovery 1995 "M" £1,000 - SOLD

    SOLD via ebay.

Lots of watchers and a couple of immediate offers. Sold this morning for £400 and I keep the tax, which is slightly better overall than the £500 I was hoping for.
