Jacket for 10 yrs old boy

My son is driving me nuts to go on the bike, his legs are long enough to rest his feet on the pegs and he seems to be confident. Any of u guys and gals out there have taken yours so young and has anybody got a decent jacket that does not cost silly money please?

Am I being stupid taking him pillion so young...?

i would also look for some boots pls

    Cheers

My daughter has been going on since probably a bit younger. It's more to do with their attitude and confidence and behaviour than just age. Watch out on long distances that he does not fall asleep.

My daughter still fits her latest stuff, just, so nothing to pass on right now, sorry.

Got my lads jacket from last year or so tyhat is redundant now. How tall is your lad? Take it to PM if u like.

As for age, a wee run up the road is a good way to find out if he likes the pillion.... Charlie at 11 was excellent and at 13, is still a good pillion, but he does find long rund boring, which is fair enough, I guess

I popped my 11-year-old daughter's ipod into the Starcom passenger slot and she was happy to listen to her own music for hours. My son, who is 13, was the perfect passenger the other day on a two-hour ride, but he had a numb bum at the end of it.

Italy1, if you want to borrow my daughter's stuff, you'd be welcome. Goretex boots, textile trousers and jacket. The gloves are little big for her and the helmet is a bit pink, but your lad would at least try it without you spending a fortune.

I should have said the boots are size 4 and she is just growing out of them.

Re: Jacket for 10 yrs old boy

My youngest is 10, been riding pillion with me for about 1 yr, mostly local though. I find my peace of mind was helped by wedging him between me and the top box and building up confidence & distance. Problem we had was not him sitting/staying on the bike, but getting up there in the first place as the bike is so tall, his older brother helped with that

We kitted him out at the BMF last year, one show just finished in May, but there are others over the year finishing with the Tail End in Sept at Peterborough. We bought loads of good stuff, boots, jacket, gloves, helmet and waterproof over trousers and had change from £80.00. Trick is not to buy new stuff, except the helmet obviously, but buy returns from Frank Thomas/Hein Gericke etc and you really do save a small fortune. Grin on our youngests face is well worth it too

Re: Jacket for 10 yrs old boy

My son is also mad keen to go out on the bike, and he is only 7!! he's been out for a couple of little rides, and from that I have no problems of worry that he'll be ok for longer rides. So now I have to sort out some kit for him. If anyone has kit they no longer want (and Italy1 can't use) please let me know.
