Bmw 1974 r60/6

Sadly my neighbour is selling his BMW.

Its a 1974 R60/6
77000 miles

Great condition.

Looking for about £1200

Would have to be a collect from Darlington.

I am not keen on helping him get rid of it, but after riding all his life he has decided he is now too old now for a bike??!?!?

I've tried to convince him otherwise but he is having none of it.

Have a look and drop me a line if you have any questions you want passing on.

That tank is original paintwork! the marks you can see are just bugs from the last VMCC run he went on last week.

Its all good fun!!

.............

I'm in the MADHOUSE list.

That is a seriously lovely bike. Wish I had the money and space. I'd be in the running then for the oldest machine and rider combo in the National rally

Believe me I've tried! I would buy it and store it until he gets the bug again if I had the space!

Would make a nice bike for the misus but I want her on something with ABS.

I took this thing out for a spin the other day and I was suprised how quick they are. They must have been quite quick in their day. It has a five speed box on this one too so good little cruiser.

But its still only a single leading shoe - or so it appears.

Even old british stuff - 72 Bsa lighting etc had twin leading shoes and some of the more performance stuff ( I am led to believe) had 4 shoes in it! a bit fiddly to set up though!

Until 2006 I had a A65LC Lightning Clubman since 1980 - a 1965 limited batch (of 29) and odd frame and engine number (engine marked A65DC - the owners club said the D was a designated race bike and the C was the close ratio gearbox) - ex works Isle of Man TT bike for a garage race team

It was fast 'cause of the race setup but crap on fuel and the carb tops would vibrate loose - great machine and I sold it to one of the restorers who knew I had it and had been pestering me for it for years

First gear would do near 80 mph

everything vibrates loose sounds like a nice rare machine.. but not practical.. A10 is going for the spitfire scambler role ( may have my spare XLV 750 front end grafted to it ) 80mph in 4th please

sorry of topic

Nice bike.

I saw one of those that had, had a groovy Cafe Racer style makeover and I have to say it looked and sounded fantastic.

Maybe that one's too nice to hack apart though.
