Which bit do you need? Sounds like it's just the washer with the tabs that fits on the wheel - in which case, should be less than £3 from David Silver Spares. If you need the gearbox assembly, I have one in my box of spares.

My speedo has stopped working, not long after a very helpful biker helped me repair a front wheel puncture. Unfortunately he snapped the little spacer that goes round the Allen bolt that holds the speedo cable into the drive.

Would that cause the speedo to stop working or may the cable have packed up too?

I looked for both bits on David Silver's website, but couldn't see what I needed. Any ideas? Thanks.

Any chance of a photo? I don't quite understand what you mean and apparently it may save a thousand words

    Re: speedo drive

Does the cable fit O.K. without the spacer, except for moving around?
If so just use any substitute for the spacer and the drive should be restored.
YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T MOVE AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE DUCT TAPE

    Re: speedo drive

Ah, that's what you meant. That's normally a countersunk cross-head screw.

Take that out. Pull out the cable. Look down where the cable came out and spin the front wheel. See if the flat metal prong spins (assuming it's still attached and wasn't broken when the cable mounting was broken off). If not, the speedo drive is suspect - possibly damaged the tab washer or the nylon gear putting it back together.
