    I can help !!!

I have a 650 V Strom, before that i had a Varadero and before that an Africa Twin.

The V Strom is very good, superb engine and gearbox, good handling and comfy, also superb fuel consumption 60mpg.

Drawbacks are the screen produces buffeting it can be adjusted to 3 positions, the lowest is best, more wind noise but little buffeting.

The Suspension feels a bit budget and sometimes gives a choppy ride on rough tarmac, which is now everywhere in Britain.

    Hope this helps

Yes, have a V-Stom 1000 K4, love the bike for touring and smaler roads.
It have made >30000km without failures, just regular service. A PCIII makes the motor go like it should, original it goes to lean.
Just bought an XRV750 -03 for those roads were the V dont fit that well.
They are same zice and weight, but the AT have 40HP less and still higher fuel consumtion. Will see after the summer witch one I love most!

I did my DAS on a V-strom and loved it. It was very forgiving for a start and the ergonomics of the layout was thoroughly decent. I was 21st at the time of DAS and it coped very well and being 6ft6 it didn't feel like I was riding a monkey bike. I settled for the Varadero though sorry

I love my DL1000! It's very thrilling and handles very well, but it just doesn't have much character because nothing ever goes wrong with it!

I still love it though and it has no become my 'road bike' because I just aquired an RD03. That will be my mountain bike, while the little Transalp will be my 'loaner'.

Ive just bought a v strom too at 0% finance. trading in my 05 Transalp. Took one out for a test ride and was very impressed. Should get it in a couple of days time. Lovely bike to ride, it felt much quicker than my transalp due to the fuel injection. ABS is a bonus as ive had a few rear wheel lockups. It just felt right.
