    He's Home, new DRZ400

Well, finally collected my new DRZ400. What a hoot! Hadn't taken it for a test ride, so wasn't sure what to expect.

Can't wait for it to be run in fully, so that I can enjoy it more. Attached is Baggy kindly finishing off the cleaning for me!

Mine's the road version, but am considering some dual purpose tyres as I want to have a go green laneing.

Where are you getting yours from? I managed to get one of the last two in Stratford upon Avon.

Just noticed the link above won't work for most... I'll have a word with Mrs Baggy in a few minutes...

In the meantime, here's a shot of us collecting the Mrs' Dr-Z from the dealers today, and me with my trusty TransAlp

Very nice Just hope the finish lasts longer than most
YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T MOVE AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE DUCT TAPE

    Running in

I had long forgotten what a drag it is, being mechanically compassionate, running in a new engine ... and with only the 398cc, and limited to half throttle on an island just over 9 x 19 miles ... It’s gonna take forever to hit that magic 600 mile mark from whence application of a heady three quarter throttle is allowed. Whereas the land of maximum twist of the right wrist lays far, far off at the 1,000 mile way, way away horizon.
Now then ... piece of string laid along perimeter, coast roads and trails shown on map of Malta ... er, 75’ish miles, so, 1,000 divided by 75, that’s about 13 laps around the island. Hmmmn. Once all outside back to warm and dry, shall I set off clockwise or anti clockwise?

    Re: He's Home, new DRZ400

I got fed up of the running in, approaching 500 miles I started to give it more beans, then after 500 miles ignored the advice and haven't quite gone full throttle. Still avoiding high sustained revs and trying to vary up and down the gears.

We're hoping to make Malta this summer for a long weekend, perhaps we could say hello??!

    Run-in

Yus, I might even have the DRZ run in by then!
August I'm planning to travel aboard the 25 year old Gpz900 to the Manx, try to be back in time for the Our Lady of Graces Pilgrimage in mid-September
