    What to do?

I have a Vara 125 as I am on a restricted license. I have been offered an L reg Suzuki GSXR 750 with a restrictor kit for £800. Am tempted but would appreciated views of anyone who has lived with one of these bikes day to day.

    Re: What to do?

It must be some restrictor to bring a gxr 750 under 33 hp ?????????

I'm not sure it would be a lot of fun to ride all choked up like that , however if you are due off restriction soon it might be a bargain. then get it all unblocked !!

I have a workmate who commutes on a gxer thou - seems to manage fine.
    2011 Triumph Tiger 800 - "Black Pussy" - MMMM Nice !!!
    2000 Suzuki DRZ400S - "Ol' Yella" - very bright
    2011 Peugeot V-Clic 50cc - "Scoot" - It's my wife's, an enjoyable ride.

    I have a house , but I can't guarantee it's safe !!

Am no expert but your can restrict almost anything these days. I had a test drive and it was nice. Could feel the difference in power straight away.

Did a quick google and I can buy a restictor for a Fireblade or a Hayabusa.

    Re: What to do?

If it`s L reg, then it`s one of the early w/cooled Gixxers. These are not the most reliable of the Gixxers, the o/cooled ones are much better, and will be a handful for someone coming off a 125. The riding position is committed to say the least. Surely something like a Bandit 6, SV650, GS 500 or CB 500 would be a much more sensible proposition. (yes, I know, none of us a sensible when it comes to bikes). Suzuki provide a free 33hp CDI with the bike if you buy a new one, and give you the fully monty CDI when your 2 years are up.

Thanks Doc. Just the advice I needed. I was having my head turned, am going back to plan A which will mean keeping my 125 for a bit longer. I am too sensible when it comes to bikes!!

You could do a lot worse than get a DR 350 and take up a bit of off roading as well, which will improve your riding skills no end. I probably had more all round fun on one of those than anything else, and I`ve owned well over 100 bikes. It`s under 33 bhp as well.

    Re: What to do?

I need something that will be happy with a 90 mile commute across the A59. I can't really do it on my Vara as it doesn't have enough poke to maintain speed, althoug it is a comfy ride.
