    Brake light switch

Anyone else struggling with the rear brake light switch ?

Mines been dogdy since new, Honda even replaced it at the first service. Now it's MOT time (thursday) I'm having trouble getting it to work.
The switch seems too sensitive to adjust, I can get it working, go for a ride and the brake light will be stuck on, back off the switch a quarter of a turn and the bloody thing won't work again !

I know what you mean, they seem very sensitive - it's as if where the spring is attached to the lever doesn't have enough travel and should be mounted further from the pivot point

I'm sure you will have doused it in WD40 and given it abit of a working. Sorry can't be of more help

As Phil says - "If in doubt - Bodge It!"

There's just not enough movement at the pivot point, and the spring seems too weak.

Simply put a small cable tie around the spring so it acts as a straight connection now, works a treat

I have a Dominator. I depress the brake pedal...the brake light comes on .....little further on the brake pedal...it goes off. As much as to say " I'll make the car behind you slow down before it hits you - that way you'll hopefully still be alive AND get a new bike

This was one of the jobs I was supposed to do before the snow melts and I can get out again...thanks for reminding me

mine works just fine. But then I've never ever even looked at the brake switch.
