Buying a bike in Northern Ireland

Hi Folks,

I'm in mainland UK, buying a bike in NorthernIreland.

Anything I need to know? Do I need to re register it\change plate?

Will I get a V5c ?

If it's a new bike, you need to register it in Swansea within 14 days of the purchase in Northern Ireland with a V55/4.

If it's second hand, all I can tell you is that I bought a TA in GB and had to 'import' it into Northern Ireland, so I don't know if it's the same routine. Anyway, I had to fill in a V55/5 and pay for tax from scratch (then get a refund for the outstanding Swansea tax). I also had to submit the MOT form, insurance, the existing GB registration form, proof of my address (like an electricity bill), evidence of the purchase (like a receipt), and a cuddly bleeding toy. (Just made up the last bit). Also, apparently you can keep the existing plate for free, or pay extra for a new one.
